In class today Dylan and I completed almost all of our assigned tasks. The last task we have to do is submit an Etiger announcement asking for Live Artists and Student Performances. We crafted a lot of ideas, and spent a lot of time figuring out interactive, engaging, and fun activities for not only the larger community, but also surrounding communities.
Today Zach and I planned two fundraisers and a raffle to raise funds for the excelsior community action group. Additionally we researched the various programs the EAG has in place to revitalize the excelsior district. I found the Excelsior Community Market program especially interesting because I have seen the success other farmers markets around the city and believe that the same results would be a positive addition to the Excelsior Community.
Today Nick and I planned out almost all of the fundraiser now all that needs to be done is execute the bake sale and talk to some small businesses about offering a few prizes and things that could be given out. We also need to see if EAG has any flyers or information we could pass out. One of the programs I am interested in learning about is the community market and how they are looking to expand it. Another program is the shine a bright light and the be safe be seen programs, I would want to know more about again how they would expand these programs.
Today we worked on brainstorming ideas for our block party. We spent a good amount of time deciding what types of activities wanted at our block party. We firstly chose what organizations we wanted to have tables at the event, coming up with a list of around a dozen. We then researched festival activities and games and came up with a list of what kind of attractions we wanted to rent, and what types of student led art stations we wanted. We lastly chose what type of food truck we wanted and began to research food trucks we could potentially rent.
Today, Maurice and I met with Kate Favetti to discuss the scope of our work with OMI Cultural Participation Project. Our primary objective is to promote their second annual Car Show in May. To accomplish this, we will focus on refining the event flyers and the application for donors. Additionally, we hope to eventually incorporate a social media component into the advertising, as well recreating the logo.
Currently, we are drafting a the flyer and the application to be shared with OMI.
Ben and I reviewed our "script" and ran through it a couple of times. Then made a list of bay area foundations that would be good candidates to reach out to for a grant.
Today, Maurice and I met with Kate Favetti for the second time. I sent the flyers to her and Maurice is finishing up the application for event sponsors. In addition, I contacted Ms. Yao to help us the Chinese translation for the neighborhood notice. Our next step is to start contacting local businesses and car clubs in the area.
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
